About Holystone Hinnies WI

Holystone Hinnies WI was founded in January 2018 and is part of the broader Coast Group and Northumberland Federation.
We are a warm, welcoming and friendly bunch with a wider age range than you might expect of the WI. We have a diverse programme of events, and while we enjoy the WI traditions, we also like to try new and exciting things - we even learnt burlesque dancing in our first year!

Monthly Meetings

Your annual fee entitles you to attend 11 formal monthly meetings held at Holystone Primary School, as shown in our events programme.

​Doors open at 7pm for a cuppa and cake, the chance to buy raffle tickets, and to sign up for optional activities.
The main event starts at 7.30 and usually lasts around an hour.
Then we cover WI business before closing at 9pm.

Optional Activities

We also offer a range of optional pay as you go activities including:
​ Dine Outs at local restaurants
Festive afternoon tea
Theatre trips
Summer social at the local pub

Our bucket list also gives you the opportunity to grab some friends and try something you have always wanted to do.

Depending on interest, we are considering the following:
Book club
​Cinema club
​Walking group
Craft club
Community activities

​It is our aim to become the heart of Holystone community, and the go to organisation for local ladies.

The Wider WI

The WI is the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK with around 180,000 members. While it might be best known for Jam and Jerusalem and Calendar Girls, the WI is constantly modernising to remain relevant to today's women of all ages.

Being part of Holystone Hinnies gives you access to further pay as you go events through Northumberland Federation and National WI, where you can do as much or as little as you like. You also have the opportunity to campaign on things that matter to you.

if you’d like to Join Holystone Hinnies or visit any of our meetings, please drop us a line or pop in to our next meeting - you will be very welcome.

The more you put in to the group, the more you get out, so attend meetings as often as you can and sign up for the additional activities.

Join the Committee

Why not join the committee of volunteers who run the group?  Legally we must have the 3 officers of President, Secretary and Treasurer, but there are plenty more jobs to go round including programme planner, events organiser, website/Facebook updater, or how about helping out on the night - set up, meeter/greeter, register, refreshments, raffle, new member buddy, tidy up etc.
