Apply to be a Speaker
Do you run a local business, have an interesting story to tell, or an activity to teach?
Would you like to be a speaker at one of our future meetings?
We start planning in the summer for the following year's meeting programme, to have it finalised and printed before we break for Christmas.
As a charity, we have limited funds so need to host a mix of free and low cost meetings.

We start planning in the summer for the following year's meeting programme, to have it finalised and printed before we break for Christmas.
As a charity, we have limited funds so need to host a mix of free and low cost meetings.
To cater for our diverse membership, we aim to provide a good variety over the year across the following categories:
Serious speakers eg mental health awareness, lifestyle coaches, authors
Fun speakers eg lighthearted talk on being a Funeral Director, Northumbrian Sausage Company
Charity speakers eg Blood bikes, Hearing dogs
Physical activities eg different types of dancing, tai chi, yoga
Something crafty eg flower arranging, glass painting, chocolate making, mosaics, sugar craft
Social activities - cocktail making, wine and cheese tasting
Games - quiz, beetle drive, pub games, dominoes
We welcome local businesses looking to increase their reach, however it needs to be more than just a sales pitch so that our members also gain something from the evening.
Good examples might be :
a dancing school giving a taster session then handing out flyers for their adult classes
a will writing service giving an informative talk about protecting your assets then giving out business cards
a sausage company running a hands on workshop on how to link sausages then selling their sausages
a soap company giving a hands on workshop on soap and bath bomb making then selling their products
However, just coming and talking through goods you want to sell would not be allowed.
You are welcome to give out business cards for members to take away.
If you have items to sell, the WI would usually request 10% commission on your sales.
